Fear immobilizes. Usually you express fear in the area of loss.
If you find in your walk with Christ that He seems to gradually draw away from you, requiring more faith and less feeling, know that He is simply forcing you to grow into maturity.
You cannot hope to leverage God into doing your bidding by an act of faith. By faith you respond to what God wants, never vise versa.
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you, and persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44
It seems that no matter what God asks, we want to argue with Him. When He tells us that details are important, we want the freedom to improvise. When He allows improvisation, we argue over the details.
He taught His disciples to pray, “Forgive me my sin in the same way that I forgive the sins of others.”
Men may reap in this life, but there is no guarantee. In order to apply it to the eternal you must believe that there are eternal consequences for temporal behavior, and that those consequences are both apparent and appreciable.
Exposure to Scripture forms an essential ingredient in obtaining the “mind of Christ.”
You can see why the first job of any religion is to define purpose. Why are you here? The whole of Scripture asserts that this life is the seedtime of eternity. Your only purpose for living this life is to prepare for an eternity with God.
These are moments of truth in people’s lives - a time of testing when they learn the value of their promises. God ensures that these moments of truth appear in each person’s life. Is your God big enough to make up whatever loss you incur as a result of your keeping your word?
