A powerful message by Louie Giglio demonstrates how big God really is. After just 7 months being back in Orlando, Florida, I am packing my bags again to make another major transition back to New Jersey. I wish God would make up His mind. :) I have a deep desire to settle down and rebuild a root system. But, God has other plans in mind. I must be patient and obedient since I can not see what lies ahead. Spiritual warfare is at an all time high around this issue. My flesh is angry and exhausted, my spirit is broken, but my relationship with Christ burns like a roaring fire. In my weakness, I feel God's almighty strength.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6

Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. – 2 Timothy 2:7

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. - James 1:2-3

No one can comprehend "why" I am on the road again. At this time, I can't even begin to explain in rational or practical terms the answer. This is so far removed from MY Master Plan. The only explanation I can give, Mark 8:34, …he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Onward.

Father, continue to build my character so I may be more reflective of your son Christ Jesus. Give me peace, wisdom, and supernatural understanding on the meaning behind this unexpected transition. Repair the broken knee so it may be a testimony of your awesome power.

Sold-Out

On a scale from 1-10, 10 being extreme peace and 1 being no peace at all, how do you rate your level of peace with yourself and the life you’re living? The irony for me, 10 only occurs when I am flat on my back, broken, and sold-out for Christ because He is the only way for me to experience grace.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7

"He must increase, but I must decrease." - John 3:30

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8

There are several individuals in the bible who were sold-out for Christ. For example, Abraham, Joseph, Job, Nehemiah, John the Baptist, Paul, and James, just to name a few. Even though King David and Solomon had a heart for God, their position of power and personal desires attributed to the comprising of their faith. In more modern day times, there are many sold-out individuals worth mentioning as well.

Jim & Elisabeth Elliot
Charles Stanley
James Hudson Taylor

So, what does sold-out mean exactly? Well, in the eyes of most, it is someone who is radical and does not conform to the norm. It leads to persecution and doing things not practical in nature. It is easy to feel like an outcast since many can’t relate to you and your ways. But at the same time, it positions you to do great things for the Lord. And, it allows you the ability to make a significant impact. Sold-out is being obedient and waiting upon the Lord when none of your circumstances can be rationalized. It is the willingness to take radical steps with no compass or perfect plan in place other than trusting the Lord's voice or word.

I love the Lord with all my heart and soul. I desire to be sold-out, be courageous, and unwavering to Your direction for my life. I want to lift-up the faint hearted and give hope to the hopeless. Help me act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. Continue to use me in miraculous ways. Show me Your ways. Protect me from the trappings of life and the pits of destruction which prevent me from being sold-out for You.

Testimony

One of the most powerful things you can do is share your testimony with others. And Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt. - Genesis 41:45

Zaphenath-Paneah - What God says, He does.

I have been challenged with trying to understand a situation where God spoke to me with authority and confirmed my decision. But, so far, the results have been opposite to what I heard Him say. So, how do I deal with this? I have four thought processes to choose from.

A) God did not really speak to me. I was just hearing things.
B) My actions altered the outcome of what He said would happen.
C) The story is not over. I need to stand firm on what He said.
D) God has other plans all together, and I just misread Him completely.

God can be very mysterious about the path we take to carryout His plan. I know He has a perfect plan regardless of whether it is a, b, c, or d. But, I almost feel like I would be cheating myself and Him if I did not choose C. A, would compromise my faith. B, is possible if I truly have free will and God does not direct every step I take. And, D just does not feel right in my spirit.

So, even though everything is pointing south, I plan on still pointing north unless I am told otherwise by Him. Is it faith and obedience or foolishness? Only time will tell. Regardless, what God says, He does!

Hope & Courage: General George S. Patton

Currently, God is specifically working on me in the areas of hope and courage. The following are some words of wisdom I have been reading from General George Patton, one of the most courageous men to ever live in recent times.

"Better to fight for something than live for nothing."
Biblical Reference: Matthew 7:21-23

"The test of success is not what you do when you're on top. Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom."
Bible Reference: Philippians 4:11-13

"When we are not moving, we are losing."
Biblical Reference: Psalm 90:12

"When there is fear of failure, there will be failure."
Biblical Reference: Psalm 27:1

"Do not be afraid to fail. Never take counsel from your fears."
Biblical Reference: Psalms 23:4

"Always do more than is required of you."
Biblical Reference: Matthew 5:41

"Pressure makes diamonds."
Bible Reference: Philippians 1:6

"Generals never show doubt, discouragement, or fatigue."
Biblical Reference: 2 Timothy 2:3, Joshua 1:7

"Defeat is due not to losses but the destruction of the souls of the leaders."
Bible Reference: Daniel 4:36

"People who are not themselves are nobody."
Biblical Reference: Proverbs 6:19

"A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood."
Bible Reference: Proverbs 12:24, 2 Peter 1:5-8

"When a decision has to be made, make it. There is no totally right time for anything."
Bible Reference: Ezekiel 33:4-5

"Be willing to make decisions. That’s the most important quality in a good leader."
Bible Reference: Ezekiel 33:3

The interesting part of General Patton’s pearls of wisdom, they are all biblical.

Overcoming Generational Bondage

The most difficult challenge I have faced in my life, figuring out "how to" overcome a known generational issue in my family. On many occasions I have felt absolutely hopeless in my ability to overcome a vicious lie plaguing my family. A deep stronghold is present in the area of emotional abandonment. This stronghold alone has led to significant anger, invalidation of thoughts and feelings, lack of healthy communication, unprovoked fear, and selfishness. Because both of my parents were emotionally abandoned, I was emotionally abandoned as well. Fortunately, both my parents loved me dearly. But, the pain still runs deep.

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation." – Exodus 34:6-7
Most recently, I have been able to clearly identify the issue of emotional abandonment within my family. I am realizing how debilitating it has been to my life and sphere of influence. Most importantly, it has major ramifications to my spiritual walk. It knowingly is preventing my ability to grow deeper in my relationship with God. My growth is stunted because of my disobedience, unwillingness to forgive or repent, and reconcile the wrongful things that have been imposed on me without warrant. Even to this day, I am still seeking justice. I want the wrong to be made right. I am looking to be complete and made whole through justice instead of God's grace. There are times when the Holy Spirit has given me peace about how to deal with the issue of abandonment. These times are priceless but sporadic at best. Satan loves to attack me where it hurts the most. Thoughts like…"Things will never change," "You will be alone forever," "Don't expect much," and "You're not strong enough to overcome this," are drilled into me from countless failures in trying to fix the problem on my own. I must keep reminding myself, the entire purpose of the cross was to demonstrate Jesus' love for us and willingness to die wrongfully to make us all right. Seeking justice will not change anything. But, it will hurt my ability to grow.

I desperately desire to overcome and break the chains holding me down. Therefore, I want to bring the generational bondage I face into the light. I want to lift the chains to the Lord, so they can be broken. I am called to be a change agent. I refuse to pass on my pain to my future wife, children, children's children, and friends. God’s promise, He will set us free. (Psalm 119:32, Psalm 118:5, Psalm 81:6, Psalm 31:4, 2 Samuel 22:49, Daniel 4:36, Acts 3:26) I am praying for deliverance and victory over the bondage that plagues me and my family. I ask for forgiveness from God, my family, and friends for my sins and unwillingness to forgive. I want to let go of the pain that has hardened my heart.

If you have any bondage captivating your ability to move forward with experiencing the fullness of God’s grace, I encourage you to takes some steps as well to experience freedom. Whether you are dealing with bondage to alcoholism, addictions, rebellion, abandonment, violence, and physical or emotional abuse, make it a priority to break free.

Here are the steps I am taking to break free.
1) Identify the generational bondages and surface them
2) Ask God for a healing of your heart and a renewed mind
3) Forgive, repent, and reconcile the issues regardless of the unjustness done. It benefits you the most.
4) Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit so the unjust pain can be replaced with His joyful spirit.
5) Don't give-up so you can be victorious and complete

Charles Stanley - Life's Trials Explained

This is the best sermon I have heard in reference to trials, perseverance, and character. What does the Bible say and why should you "accept Christ as my Savior"?

Steps

Believe that God loves you; He has shown this by giving His Son as a sacrifice for all you've done wrong and for all your sins. Admitting that you have sinned is a prerequisite to accepting Christ, and the hardest step to take. Once you have done this, every other step will fall into place. If you still have a hard time with this concept, trust Jesus as Lord over you as well as Savior.

Know that the Bible is God's Word to mankind, written by people God chose to write it. The people who wrote the Bible were inspired by God to write it.

Know the Bible teaches that all people have sin in their lives. Sin is anything that displeases God.Romans 3:23 (NIV)"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"That means 'everyone'. Sin separates us from God, who is perfect. The payment we pay for sin is death-permanent separation from God.Romans 6:23 (NIV)"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Know the free gift of God is His son Jesus.John 3:16 (NIV)"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."Belief is trust and faith that God is who He says He is. He provided the payment for our sin by His own son’s death.

Understand the difference between heaven and hell, and how Jesus can help you avoid the latter. All sins, past, present and future were forgiven by Christ at the cross.Hebrews 10:10 (NIV)"And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."

Know when Jesus was nailed to the cross He bled.Hebrews 9:22 (NIV)"In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."Jesus died to pay for the sins of man.

Talk to God in your own words. Tell God you believe on Him and that you accept His Son as your Savior. Ask God to lead and guide you day by day.

Congregate regularly with other Christians who can help you grow in your new life.

Follow Christ's teachings.

Tips

If you have accepted Christ as your savior,Romans 10:13 (NIV)"for, 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"You are now a child of God. Just believe what the bible says, and accept what it says practically, as if what it says is exactly what it means.

Now that you have chosen to accept Christ and receive his forgiveness for your sin, don't take advantage of his forgiveness and commit wrong like watching bad movies, reading porn magazines, etc. Don't beat yourself up if you do sin, remember that we will only be perfect once we get to heaven!

Christianity may be metaphorically compared to a race. A race to reach the finish line (Heaven) is our ultimate goal, but how we run the race is more important than when we finish the race. We pause to help others along the way (benevolence, and bringing others to Christ), and sometimes stumble on obstacles in the way (our sin, others' sin). Christianity isn't an easy path. It may be easy to 'run the first lap', but the race becomes more difficult as we mature in our faith. Never forgot to ask Jesus' help, because we are not alone in the 'race'.

You can approach God ANYTIME. talk to him as you would with a regular friend. You don't have to like tell the priest all your messages to God... God's a friend... and we have direct access to him!

Plug into a church or a youth group. They will help you know more about God and be closer to him. Don't be too proud by thinking that you can walk with God alone. Christian friends build you up and encourage you, so plug into a church as soon as possible.

Church does not mean a building. It means, and has from the beginning, a group of people who have accepted Jesus as the One True God meeting in the same place to celebrate what they have and learn from each other how God is working in their lives. This can happen anywhere, at set times, or even spontaneously.

If your parents don't approve of the church thing, seek the help of the pastor or youth leader of the church you want to go to, or any other church. Technically, you aren't a member of the church yet; you're just seeking the help of a pastor or youth leader.

Warnings

Do not expect that this is an easy life. Some example may be found in books like Jesus Freaks, The Hiding Place, Boom, Heavenly Man, or Christian magazines such as OpenDoors International or Voice of the Martyrs to find out what true faith looks like worldwide.

Don't ever suppose that God doesn't care about what you do from now on. Always be aware that he doesn't want you to go back and do the sin that you were used to. He has made you a different person so you can live 'above' sin, not fall back into it. Always remember that you will undoubtedly be tempted to sin, but you can pray daily that God will keep you from failing. If you do sin, ask forgiveness from God right away, and ask him to help you not to do it again. If you have wronged someone else, go and apologize, no matter how hard it may be it will always be worth it to make restitution. Again, do not dwell on it, but get back to following Jesus and His example.

For some people becoming a Christian is an emotional step; for others it is a simple act of trust without emotions. God will save you with or without emotions.

Do not expect all your family and friends to like the new you, but it is OK, Jesus never said that it would be easy, He just said that it would be the truth.

The grace of Jesus covers all sins. None of your words or actions can ever keep you from salvation and God's loving embrace. The only exception to this is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, but this only applies to those who are already believers and speak vile words or commit vile acts against the Holy Spirit.Luke 12:10 (NIV)"And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."Aside from this only exception, the grace of Jesus is yours when you believe in Him -- when you commit yourself to Christ.Ephesians 1:12-14 (NIV)"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory."

Be aware, once you've accepted Christ into your life, that persecution knows no bounds. Now that you understand and feel the love of Jesus, you may become one of Satan's prime targets. Fret not, though, because nothing on earth or in Hell can harm your faith with God daily at your side. Do not worry about it, but rather remember this when you face temptations to sin.

Things You'll Need

Faith

The Bible. In some countries, it is very difficult to obtain a copy of the Bible due to the persecution of Christians or lack of adequate funding or supply. The word of God, as written in the Bible, is the truth necessary for understanding what it means to be a Christian. Owning a copy of the Bible isn't necessary, but having access to the Bible (ie: from the Internet or through verbal communication between others) is essential.

Other Christians to encourage and guide you. If you don't know any other Christians, praise God for the mission field He has placed you in! You may feel inexperienced, but ask God what He wants to do and then do it. He may ask this of you, and possibly in a specific way, but verify it is truly Him by comparing it with His word (the Bible).

Related wikiHows

How to Become A Christian

How to Read the Bible

How to Have a Personal Relationship With God

How to Address Your Doubts About Catholicism

How to Be the Antichrist

How to Celebrate Lent

Sources and Citations

Bible Gateway - Versions. 50 Bibles in 35 Languages. However, we all tend to wear some type of mask. Some of us have larger masks than others. Sometimes our biggest fear in life is being foundout. We fear if the mask were to come off, our true identity would be revealed. Because we know our true identity is sinful, it is a scary proposition to remove the shell we work so hard to build-up over the years. There is only one problem, shells are inherently empty, preventing us from working out our issues and creating meaningful relationships with ourself, others and our Father. Realness is freedom, not death.

I just love this quote by Jon Thurman, "The goal in life is not to be well-known, but known well." You will never be known well if you are not able to take down your val and be a great storyteller about who you truly are and where you have been. The idea of perfection is a lie, and buying into this lie is destructive. In many case, the expectation of perfection is something many of us experience early on in our childhood. In my own life, I was never expected to be perfect, but I felt an expectation to perform. If you are living a life of perfection and performance, take a step, think about the reason Jesus died on the cross. He knew we could never be perfect enough or perform well enough. Surrendering to this truth, and asking for forgiveness and repenting. This is the requirement we all have.

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. - Luke 15:7
If you are working hard to keep-up a facade, I encourage you to break the chains of bondage that prevent true freedom.

Charles “Tremendous” Jones

Today I had the great pleasure to meet Charles "Tremendous" Jones. He was absolutely TREMENDOUS! He is one of the most dynamic and wisest men I have ever heard speak. His heart is as pure as goal and his words were filled with truth. At 80 years old, he redefined the words motivation, enthusiasm, encouragement, love, and most importantly faith. He challenged everyone in several different areas, but most memorable were three I would like to expand on.

1) Be a Thinker. Charlie encourages you to stop listening and start thinking. So, instead of listening to others and writing down their thoughts, listen to others, but write down and act on your thoughts about what the person has to say. This was powerful for me since it is something I have always done, but never was validated in my thought process until now.

2) Definition of Love. After being married for 60 years Charlie eloquently talked about the secret sauce of his marriage. He said, "The definition of love is commitment."

Love is about how you serve, not what you deserve. Being committed to someone means you have a higher purpose besides yourself. The only unfailing love comes from Christ. All other love will fail, and is designed to reduce commitment. We so often confuse love with lust. Our modern day definition of love is really lust in most cases. And, lust never lasts very long. Make sure you are not lusting after someone, but you truly love (want to make a commitment to serve) someone.

One of my core fears, someone will not love me enough to stay committed to me. Am I not good enough? I am not! Therefore, for someone to stay committed, they must be willing to commit regardless of the other person's inadequacies and failures. We must love the Lord enough to stay committed to the relationship, and not rely on "love" for the other person as the foundation for the commitment. We can't love enough; because our love is not unconditional. We must commit to love!

3) People & Books
"You are today what you'll be five years from now, except for the people you meet and the books you read." I just love this quote by Charlie. Again, something my spirit has led me to believe, but never received full conformation of this thought process until today. What is so profound about his statement is how important it is to spend our time wisely and focused on activities that will change who we are five years from now.

Teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom – Psalm 90:12

In addition, Charlie strongly encourages couples to read together. It binds their thoughts together and allows them to grow together. It makes a lot of sense to me.

To learn more about Charlie, please visit http://www.executivebooks.com/cjones/index.html

A Divine Appointment

Allen is one of my new best friends and brother in Christ. I met Allen for the first time after leaving work very late from the office. Allen was the security guard on night duty. As I was leaving the building, he noticed I was carrying my bible. He literally ran over and was eager to find out if I was a follower of Christ. I acknowledged that I was. He became filled with joy. I have never seen someone become so joyful about my salvation. For the next forty-five minutes we would stand in the doorway of the office building having a discussion about his love for the Lord. He was on fire for God! I loved it!

He came to the United States eight years ago from Haiti. Haiti is one of if not the poorest country in the world. It is always amazing to meet people from other countries who have suffered in ways many of us can’t imagine; in turn, have a strong and intimate relationship with their Father.

Three important takeaways came from my discussion with Allen this evening.

1) God is Omniscient and Omnipresent
2) He Never Leaves Your Side
3) The Joy of the Lord is Alive & Real

God is Omniscient and Omnipresent
Eight months ago, I was in one of my favorite bible studies in Brentwood, TN with Larry Thraikill. We have been studying to book of Psalm for the past few weeks. This particular week, we were covering Psalm 91. During our study, I felt there was a great lesson to be learned; but, I had no idea what the life application was going to be. A few days later I would begin to understand a little bit more. I would encounter a debilitating physical experience just before my 33rd birthday. All I could think of were the verses from Psalms 91.

2 I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"

3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day;

6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.

7 A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you.

And...
10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.

A few months later, my mom would experience a horrible facture to her knee. While in the hospital, one of her dear friends, Daisy Hobson was visiting my mom. While visiting, she decided to grab the bible from the hospital room table. She said, "Let's see what the Lord gives us." Randomly flipping through the bible she landed on Psalm 91 and started reading. It separated my heart in two.

At the beginning of my conversation with Allen, he randomly quoted to me verse 7 in Psalm 91. The minute I heard him say Palm 91, I knew God was speaking to me again. He had absolutely no reason to choose this verse in the bible unless it was God sending me the message for the 3rd time. The reason why this was so timely, my faith has been tested exponentially since I am still experiencing physical complications. The message received: I am covered. No evil pestilence or plague will come near me.

He Never Leaves Your Side
It was 1:30am! The last thing I expected leaving the office at this time was getting into a discussion with a stranger about God's grace. However, it is what I needed, when I needed it.

The Joy of the Lord is Alive & Real
In this prestige office building, Allen has the most joy in comparison to anyone else in the building. From a worldly perspective, this should not be the case. He is the security guard, and has the graveyard shift. What does he have to be happy about? There is a distinct difference between being happy and joyful in the presence of God. My encounter with Allen was a great reminder it is who you are and not what you are that matters most.

Allen was a great blessing to me and without a doubt truly a divine appointment.

Rescuing Your Relationship

In the office building I reside, a group of lawyers were hosting a session to finalize a couples' divorce. Even when I am not a member of the situation, it breaks my heart to hear or see another relationship being dissolved. Our selfishness does not allow us to be patient enough to realize how joyful it is to overcome our own desires for someone else. The most common comment made, "I am unhappy…". The blame game! We believe leaving someone and/or moving on to another person will fix all our problems. Highly unlikely! The unfortunate consequences, we don’t know what we have until we've lost it. I am still morning over a painful loss. Was I selfish? No doubt!

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? - Matthew 7:3
Understand, the devil is falling rolling on the floor laughing at those involved in broken relationships.

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. - 1 Peter 5:8
God is not of destruction. He is a rescuer, restorer, healer, peacemaker, forgiver, and selfless God. But, He will discipline us when necessary.

"May your God, whom you serve continually rescue you!" - Daniel 6:16

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. – 1 Peter 5:10

If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. - Luke 17:3
I have seen relationships miraculously repaired and deep wounds healed when there is a willingness to trust God. Becoming fearless and letting go of our selfish ways is what is required. Don’t let the devil steal your relationship from you. Fight for it by repenting so you may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

A Great Workout

When you physically workout hard, your body significantly changes. It becomes more defined, stronger and your endurance goes through the roof. Well, the same concept applies when you commit to working out with God. He will define your character, make you stronger, and provide incredible endurance when needed. But, you have to workout with Him. So, how do you workout with God?

1) Prayer
2) Journaling
3) Quiet Time
4) Worship
5) Small Group
6) Plugging into a Church

However, jumping from one activity to another does not necessarily provide you the best results. Your form is critical! Are you exercising with good form or are you just getting exhausted by going through the motions. You can spend 30 minutes with good form and get much better results then if you spent 3 hours workout with bad form. Make sure your form is solid by training with others that demonstrate good form.

Getting What We Deserve

If we ever got what we deserve, it would be scary. The only person who did not get what He deserved was Jesus Christ. The rest of us don’t deserve what we got. I pray never to get what I deserve.

Although, at times it seems like others should get what they deserve, good or bad. The story of the Prodigal Son is a demonstration of how God and his people should deal with others even when they don’t deserve it.

…"Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, Quick! Bring me the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf…" – Luke 15:21-23

The son did not deserve anything from his father, but he was given everything for his repentance.

If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. - Matthew 5:39

Forgiveness and repentance is some powerful stuff. An area I really need to grow deeper. They are key ingredients to receive the fruit of the Spirit and God's unconditional love for us. An unforgiving heart will be a source of bondage for multi-generations without a proactive approach to place an end to internal hurt. God, I repent for my sins and wayward ways. I so desperately need to repent for my inability to forgive. Please forgive me, and transform my heart to extend complete forgive to others.

Things to Consider in 2008

Presidential Election
Leadership of a country is one of the most significant responsibilities a person may undertake. Presidential elections in 2008 will be of the utmost importance. We all have a duty to conduct our due diligence and make a wise choice for a person who will honor and continue to carry forward the original plan of the forefathers of this country. "In God We Trust", is a powerful statement printed on all US currency. This statement is something our next leader must believe, honor, and carryout on behalf of not only the United States, but the world. The president must be steadfast in trusting in God when making decisions; otherwise the decisions will be flawed. No candidate is intelligent enough, righteous enough, or articulate enough. Only the person with the spirit of God has a fighting chance to lead us well. I had an opportunity to meet Mike Huckabee in Orlando, Florida. At first glace, he has a desire to uphold "In God We Trust". The United States needs its identity back again. We need to reclaim who we are and where we came from. God is the provider of life and the blessings we are gifted. Jesus came to serve, not be served. We need a servant leader seeking to serve, and not be served.

Living a Meaningful Life
As a quick reminder, we are here on earth for about 80 years. What are you doing during your time here? I ask myself this question all the time. Am I self indulging or carrying out God’s purpose for my life? Typically, I find myself self indulging, but being strongly led towards seeking God's purpose. The good news, everyone has the same exact purpose, to obey God's word. Our paths are inherently crooked, but God makes them straight.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding’ in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3: 5-6)

"God's plan for our life is good, his purpose is clear, but His path is mysterious", as Dr. David Jeremiah so eloquently puts it. None of our paths are alike. My path has so many twists and turns in it, it will make most people dizzy. This is why I have no choice but to surrender fully with all my heart. When I try to make sense of it all, I am at a loss.

What has God placed on my heart?
I still believe God is preparing me in a significant way during this decade of my life. 30-40 is meant to be a time of intense learning and growing. His promise is definitely being implemented. Some key areas I see God preparing and moving me.

Strong Support Team – Married with 3-4 kids
Credibility – Preparation to be a pastor or evangelist (doctorate in theology)
Deep Passion – Establish a faith-based marriage & family counseling center
Calling – Involvement in global projects with ecosystems
Purpose – Professional Angler: Help lead 17,000 people to receive their salvation (approx. 1 per day for the next 45 years)

What has God placed in your heart? If you don't know, spend more time listening to Him.

33.5

I am 33.5 years old, the same age when Jesus was crucified, died, and resurrected. I find myself being drawn closer to Him as His heavy hand rests on my shoulders. Just when I thought I had all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place, a large tornado swept through town unannounced. My flesh has become numb due to the overwhelmingly intense circumstances. I contantly weep when no one is around. When you have nothing, you are nothing in the eyes of the world. But, when you have nothing, you have everything as God promises.

Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth. - Psalms 26:2

For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was
sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord" and you forgave the guilt of my sin. - Psalms 32:4-5

"But many who are first will be last, and the last first." - Mark 10:31

God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. - 1 Peter 5:5

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. - Psalms 147:3

Almost homeless, broke, lonely, criticized and suffering from a damaged body, you quickly come to know the Lord intimately. Or, you rebel against Him. This is not the first time reaching a state of complete brokenness. Only this time, the intensity level is much greater. Some will try and figure out what you did wrong, some will ignore you and others will comfort you. Most disturbing, it can be difficult to love someone that feels like a dog beaten repeatedly. In many ways, I have become scared of my surroundings. I don't know who or what is going to hurt or comfort me. The only time my heart and soul is in a state of rest is when I am talking to God and thanking Him for His heavy hand on my life.

My joy has been stolen from me as I rely on my flesh, and I am on a mission to reclaim it. I stand firm knowing this is all part of a maturing process perfectly orchestrated by my Father. He truly loves me! My faith and hope only is being strengthed and not weakened. Once again, He makes me aware of how powerless I really am. He must increase, but I must decrease. - John 3:30

The Resume of Jesus Christ

Address: Ephesians 1:20
Phone: Romans 10:13
Website: The Bible. On my 30th birthday, God revealed to me the accelerated training ground I would endure for the next decade. It would be a time of serious training with very little execution comparatively speaking. In 2005-2006, it was drinking from the firehouse at MIT and Lee Yih’s bible study in Cambridge, MA. In 2007, it was many unexpected transitions as I was placed on a course that went from Massachusetts to New Jersey to Seattle to Nashville and back to Orlando after being away for 2-years. In my travels there were definitely plenty of trials to endure as I navigated uncharted territory.

I loved and lost. This was a source of deep sadness and strength. As God intended, it has developed my relationship with Him. I was truly excited and fully committed to spending my life with Bari Watson. She is a very special woman. In addition, my health has never been tested like it has in 2007. I have been healthy my entire life. The worst experience I had in the past was a common cold. I went from being perfectly healthy to experiencing unusual pain. Most importantly, my own mother experienced health related issues for the first time as well. Last but not least, I went from being financially secure to financially distressed. I have closed my eyes at time and asked God to take me home so I did not have to deal with all the pain. I have spent countless nights crying myself to sleep. Despite the painful experiences, I am confident and assured all these things will be used for good. (Romans 8:28) Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. (James 1:2). 2007 was a time of painful testing, but valuable lessons learned to better understand my Father and His calling on my life. I feel now I can fully relate to others who are experiencing relationship, health, family, and/or financial issues. I can especially relate to those with all four happening at the same time. I call it the perfect storm! It is a true sign, God really loves me! :)

Not everything was painful in 2007. In Seattle, I bonded with a new group of friends at World Vision. Wayne and Amy McGraw, Erika Syre, and Michelle Sunada are the best! The Wednesday morning services at World Vision were priceless. In Nashville, I spent 6-months living in Green Hills. It was a great experience for me! I developed new friendships with some wonderful people such as Brian and Chia-Lin Leung, Letty Gossett, and Walt and Paula Brown to mention a few. I learned about Southern culture and hospitality, meat and 3, Alabama football “RollTide”, real BBQ at Whitt's Barbecue, Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, and developed a new appreciation for country music from musicians such as Alan Jackson. The Pancake Pantry is the best! During my time in Nashville, God spoke to me and told me I would find a life long friend and mentor while I was there. When I left Nashville, I still had not found this person. But, soon after landing back in Orlando, Florida, God revealed this person to me. The irony, we both moved from Nashville to Orlando in July of 2007. In September of 2007 at Mamma B's Restaurant, I met a life long friend and spiritual mentor, Pastor Tim Johnson. He is a true man of God along with his family! Orlando World Outreach Center has been a great blessing to me and the Central Florida Community. Big things are on the horizon in 2008 for this new church in Orlando. Blessings on the staff and volenteers at OWOC; Kristi Whittenmyer, Isaac & Sherry Larson, Pastor Brian & Chavonne Talyor, Pastor Joel & Jenny Magpantay.

Speaking of new relationships, Chad and Beth Spaman has been a special edition to my life. Meeting them and their family in Daniel Island, South Carolina during Shelby and Brandon’s wedding was a divine appointment. In addition, I have been exposed to their friends and family on a recent visit to Michigan. This visit included meeting Lidia Elalam and her family. The Elalam’s are a special blessing and wonderful Christian family.

Professionally and Personally, God has blessed me with great business partners in 2007; Paul Roldan, Jason Martin, and John Rallis. In addition, He has blessed us all with Mary Rose in November 2007. She is the glue keeping Allgen together!

My long-time friend and roommate from Stetson University Dimitri Cosmios got married to Yessica in May of 2007. Dimitri and Yessica Cosmios had a beautiful wedding in one of the most breathtaking places in the world, Santorini (Thera), Greece. It was amazing to share this experience with them in 2007. It was, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” live! Loved it!

Another great blessing to expose in 2007 was the rapid growth of the Orlando & Winter Park Christian Social Meetup Group. Today, there are approximately 90 members only after 4 months. The group is flourishing and God has been faithful in being fruitful with the seeds being planted in Central Florida. This organic group is focused on using unique activities to reveal the Word to others seeking to grow in their faith. Thanks to my co-pilot, Theresa Ferreri, and her Godly heart, we are assured to do some amazing things in 2008.

In the last quarter of this year, I have been growing in the area of compassion. Understanding what it means to be compassionate and how to express compassion. Most recently, I have received the gift of praying in the Holy Spirit. Some very powerful and exciting stuff!

I need to keep reminding myself it is the process and not the result God cares about most. 2007 was full of hardcore processing. I am praying the results are manifested in 2008. :)

What is a Real Man?

I want to be a real man! Therefore, it is important for me to understand what a real man is like. John the Baptist is one of the greatest men who ever lived. John had six characteristics which qualify him as a real man:

1) Sincerity
2) Simplicity
3) Conviction
4) Courage
5) Vision
6) Vulnerability

The five most difficult statements for the modern man to make are:

1) I don’t know
2) I was wrong
3) I need help
4) I’m afraid
5) I’m sorry

The world’s definition, real men do not admit any vulnerability. I definitely can't say I am Mr. Vulnerable; but, I have taken some strides in this area with the help of the Holy Spirit. I can honestly say, being vulnerable is hard stuff. The difficult part for me is not the act of being vulnerable, but dealing with the expectations of those who are involved in my life. I have to remind myself not to lean on my own understanding, but on God. It can be very difficult at times to convey vulnerability to others about things we don’t understand ourselves. For example, I didn't know exactly what my next steps were after leaving Seattle in February 2007 or moving back to Orlando in July 2007, but this was very hard to communicate, stay prayerful and patient, and for others to comprehend. My conviction, God had a perfect plan, but I didn't know what the plan was at the time. Even to this day, I am still seeking a better understanding of His ways in rolling-out His plan for my life. I know it is a perfect plan! We are only responsible for staying open to receiving His plan and staying proactive with testing opportunities we encounter. Anything else is futile!

John the Baptist's vulnerability is shown in two ways - his honesty and his humility. "He must become greater; I must become less" (John 3:30). Therefore, a real man admits openly, "I must go on decreasing. He must go on increasing."

Lord, please decrease me so you can be increased. Allow me to be sincere, simple, convicted, courageous, visionary, and vulnerable. Make me even more honest and humble.

(Reference: Men’s Devotional Bible – NIV)
